Dr. Avi Patil is a Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist with a unique dual board certification in MFM and Clinical Pharmacology. He earned his medical degree and completed his Ob/Gyn residency at the University of Tennessee. He then completed his MFM fellowship at Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina. Dr. Patil’s additional training includes an NIH sponsored fellowship in Clinical Pharmacology (UNC-Chapel Hill) and Pediatric Clinical Research (Duke Clinical Research Institute).
Within the scope of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Dr. Patil’s expertise is in Personalized Medicine/Pharmacogenomics, preterm, and management of medical complications of pregnancy. He is one of a few practitioners in the country with dual board certification in MFM and Clinical Pharmacology. Dr. Patil has presented nationally and published research in the areas of preterm birth, medical complications of pregnancy, and medication safety in pregnancy. These publications have appeared in professional journals.
Dr. Patil’s clinical philosophy for patient care is to practice according to evidence-based guidelines while individualizing care based on cutting-edge research findings. He wants all of his patients to know that he will advocate for them so that they can achieve the best possible outcome for their pregnancy.
